Choosing safer cosmetics are crucial to our overall health and wellness
What we put on our skin effects our overall health much more than many people realize. There are thousands of ingredients banned in the EU that are not restricted in any way here in the states. Chemicals that disrupt our endocrine system and can cause a whole host of issues and produce adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune effects. It is imperative that we take this seriously and incorporate safer cosmetics into our lives. In a recent study, researchers from the University of California, Berkeley and Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas gave the 100 teen girls personal care products that were labeled as free of certain chemicals such as phthalates, parabens, triclosan and oxybenzone. These ingredients are commonly used in everything from cosmetics and fragrance, to hair products, soaps and sunscreens. The amazing results? After just 3 days of using makeup, shampoos and lotions free of hormone-disrupting chemicals, levels dropped up to 45 percent. (read more HERE)

Here's an easy lotion recipe. Chose the essential oils to use based on your skin type. Love how customized we can be! 1/4 cup coconut oil 1/4 cup shea butter 1 Tbsp aloe vera juice 1 Tbsp avocado oil, jojoba oil, or similar liquid oil 5-10 drops essential oils Melt first three ingredients together, stir in liquid oil and essential oils. Store in container of your choice. Canning jars are great options. Dry or aging skin? geranium, frankincense, or myrrh Need to be energized and refreshed?
