Soothe and pamper your skin with these simple lotion bars
These lotion bars are so luxurious - and way simpler to make than I anticipated. I played around with the ingredients to find a good balance. It needed to be soft enough to act like a lotion, but firm enough to not just melt into a puddle of blech. This seems to be a good combo that sets up pretty fast as well. We used some cute silicone cupcake cups from IKEA. Lavender oil is wonderful for all things calming, so this lotion will calm your mood along with soothing your skin. You can customize with whatever oil you like; there are so many that are wonderful for your skin. Oils like Frankincense, Myrrh, Geranium (people either love or hate the smell of this one), Cedarwood, Helichrysum, Melaleuca -- they are all awesome choices. Peppermint/Lavender lotion bars would be amazing for after a day in the sun. (Need oils?) We made these lotion bars at a Mother's Day make & take -- you can see some of the other goodies that we did pictured behind the lotion bar. Getting together with friends to make gifts (or fun things to keep) is always a wonderful time. I love my oil buddies!
Lavender Lotion bars
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
10-15 drops Lavender essential oil
Melt oil, shea butter, and beeswax in double boiler. Remove from heat and stir in vitamin E and Lavender. Pour into silicone mold and allow to cool before removing from mold. This recipe makes 1-2 bars depending on the size of your mold.
